The starter motor decided to break today. It still turns well but sounds like a grinder! I think it is the bit that engages the flywheel that has broken. I have lost my haynes manual and have no idea where the starter motor is located! Does anyone have a photo of their starter motor on the engine?

Searching threads I need an inlet manifold gasket and I am guessing the drive bit that engages the flywheel. Any advice for sorting this welcome.

start motor is under the throttle body and 3 bolts with an allen head go from the bell housing kind to the left and forward of the battery. will need to remove inlet to get to it.

hope it helps

I might get away with lubricating the drive bit which engages the flywheel. would it be accessible from the underside?
