Car's in the garage (again) for overheating. leak from the radiator means it needs a new one but the gagare said it might be the head gasket too, possibly due to it over heating thanks to the leak. Any idea how likely this is? Are they 'weak' and likely to go? The car still pulled well when it wasn't running hot so is it likely to just be the radiator leak? The thermostat might need replaced too?

Its just a case of fitting the radiator to cure the leak, re fill the fluids and check it over and go from there.

I wouldnt say the headgaskets are weak, but as with any engine get them warm and they will fail.

Ok Carl, so how much should I be looking at for a head gasket? I'm guessing it'll need skimmed and a new one? Several hundred of my Scottish pounds?

Get a garage to sniff test the collant that will tell you if the HG has gone or not.

Is the radiator for a '6 special? My garage said they had to get their factors to special order it?
