Hey guys.. after some help if possible please?

As you may know i have just got another GTI-6 and when i bought it i knew the heaters were not working..however i have no idea where to start to try and fix it?

Basically, nothing works at all..none of the knobs do anything whatsoever??

Anybody had this problem at all?

Help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Hello,
I'm having the same problems.
I intermittently loose all power to the air con and ventilation control panel.
I'll take a look at the relays.

It's not normally the relay but the contact's getting hot which is the issue, Easy to see by melting plastic

well.......... i checked the relays, all seemed fine, then checked the fuses and found the 30amp was blown so i quickly replaced that thinking that was my problem,

Very quickly after turning on white smoke started coming out from every part of the dash and the fuse i just put in was glowing red hot Sad. i disconnected the battery and this stopped the smoke,

What do i do now as i have no idea what is wrong at all?

Hello

My problem with intermittently loosing all power to the air con and ventilation control panel has returned. I never know if I will have heat or not, which is not good in this weather.
Can anyone advise please?

Hello, found the fault heater relay.
Far left of the 4 relays at the top of the fuse box, but the relay in my car was brown, not green.

I have a working heater fan again after swapping the relay.
It looked like the relay had burnt out.

Are the heating systems easy to replace, i.e. the fans or if there is a main unit etc? I suppose I need to have a shufty through the Haynes manual for detailed info, on what the whole heating system consists of.

How much do the replacement relays cost and are they readily available, or only from scrapyards?

finally had a look at mine [phase3] and it's hte green relay next to the grey one which had pin 5 melted and all seized to the plastic relay holder. prized it apart, got rid of a bit of the plastic where it melts to the other surface and put another relay in. job jobbed
