There are now many faults on my 6 now, mainly as a result of a bodged cambelt replacement & head inspection bodged by company used by the previous owner. (

You checked the fuses? Check the fuse box FAQ for fuse layout diagrams.

All my fuses are present, correct and intact.

Although I did notice this morning when I was checking for more oil, there is a connector in the same mini-loom as the map sensor (purple plastic inside) which is not connected to anything, any ideas?

Engine quote I filled the form out yesterday evening and they called me this morning. Clicky

There isn't much point on spending that kind of money on a car that's not worth much over 2k. Buy a second hand one from a reputable member on here and fit it yourself, or get a garage to do it.

400-500 for the engine, plus 100 for a service.

Hmm. Personally I would be very cautious of generic engine rebuilding firms like that. I'd half expect them to just bung in an xsi engine or something thinking "that's close enough". Lots of stories about similar companies not doing what they're supposed to. Do your research before you even think about it. Yes

Haha, well fair enough then, I'll get the car over to my mates and attack it ourselves.

A bit OT, but need a new clutch too... its done 101k now, starting to get tired methinks

Might as well put a new clutch in whilst the engine is out. Makes it a hell of a lot easier and it'll need doing sooner or later. Yes

Stay well, well, well away from them.

Go as far away from them as possible and then go a bit further.

I've dealt with them on a work basis and if I told you my line of work then you would know that is not a good thing.

As said the amount of Gearbox's and Engine's supplied from Breaker's & Recon places always amuse me as most come from Derv's on the box front and engine's are normally std base models
Warranty's too like this are not worth the paper they are written on as there's so many T&C's and get out clauses it's just silly.
Either as said find a good engine you can hear running, don;t buy a engine on a pallet etc as again the amount I have had supplied from customer's which are scrap is silly.

Also they want you to get the car serviced by them every 6000 miles for the warranty to stay valid.
