I thought I would start a project thread regarding the ECU that has been discussed here.

I went to See Andy from datashift in Southampton. He explained how he makes the ECUs and what work goes into each. Once he had finished confusing my brain with all of the electronic speak, he then showed me a couple of his cars that currently run his predetor ecus. One was a saxo, the other was a MR2 turbo.

He took me out in the MR2 and showed me how it had changed the characteristic's of the car. It had no lag and the performance was out standing, even on the lower power map

At first he is planning to develop the ECU for the S16 engine, with a view to create the GTI6 and Mi16 Aluminum block ecu next Cool

These will not just fit the 306, but any car running the stock ecu, like 205 conversions, etc.

The mappable ECUs plug straight into the existing socket, with no need to have a new loom made up, thus, eliminating some of the cost of the competitors (Emerald, KMS, etc.). The Predator seems to be pretty much future proof, with the ability to map cam, throttle bodies, turbo and the famous superchargers!

Overall I think that these seem a very good and competitive package, allowing you to remap for future mods yourself, is you feel confident. Also, I think that the price will be very surprising considering that it will INCLUDE road mapping

So no more excuse for not upgrading to cams or throttle bodies!

I'm sure Andy himself will be along shortly for anyone with any questions Smile

I will get my car on the rolling road at Janspeed, ready for a comparison graph done once the work will be finished, obviously on the same rollers.

In preparation for the new ecu being fitted I have taken my car down to Janspeed for the 'before' graph:

The results are at the wheels. The only modifications to the standard S16 engine are: Magnex exhaust system, decat and gti6 inlet manifold.

Well Andy came to the garage yesterday after having my car for a while and set up he new test ecu to see how he could get a standard car to run.

Turns out after a couple of hours we had a Rallye running perfectly at 820rpm (idle), i have never seen one run so smooth, he has taken it away to make a few future tweeks and hopefully i will have an ecu back to use to test it out.

All good so far.

Carl

Was it a standard Gti6 or your supercharged one? Did you get a before power run for comparison? Smile

I don't think it is yet as I haven't heard from Andy, but hopefully soon, as there seems to be quite a bit of interest especially from the 205 boys Cool Smile

No, I have had no news from Andy yet... No No

I think Andy has alot of work with the Saxo and 106 boys and this seems to be taking up his time, i hope a gti6 ecu does come together as from what i see he know his stuff and can get a car to run very well on his setup.

Yeah, he certainly does know stuff Cool

After speaking to him before, he does seem very busy with the saxo/106 guys. Which I guess is a good thing and shows his ECUs work very well and are popular Smile

Could someone ask him if this is still happening for the 306. Seems such a good idea.

I was having regular contact with him. Then all went dead.

Would've been good to have finished this off. Was a good idea and getting a lot of interest.

I will try and get in contact with him this week, just hope his number still works...
