Does anyone have a guide? I've done this a few times but i've heard there is a better method using a bottle.

surely you just need to bleed it from the top right side (on the rad) bleed point?

not on an S16, there's a bleed point on the top of the thermostat housing like on the gti6, as well as one on the metal pipe along the back of the head, and the heater matrix one.

I'm pretty sure there are 4 bleed points on the S16 engine, one on the thermostat cover, one at the top of the cylinder head by the vacuum pump, and one on the water pipe that goes across the back of the cylinder head. You may or may not have one on the radiator.

If you look in this faq it shows and tells you how to properly fill up the cooling system using a header tank.
