Isnt it easier to replace the top mounts, as they come with the bearings dont they?
If its easy to just do the bearings, then i guess i just need to replace them.

either way you have to take the strut out. I was told that its rare for the top mount to go and its usually just the bearing. I know when i changed the springs on a mates car the other week that the top mount was fine but the bearings were beyond fooked!

Edit: plus the bearings are alot cheaper on their own.

It will most likely be the bearing making the noise as Mark says. It's up to you whether you replace the mounts too but the mounts (from GSF or ECP at least) do not come with bearings. No
