I've emailed AST, and asked if they would like to expand their productline with Sportline I. suspension kits for the Xsara and for the 306GTI-6, and surprisingly they've replied! (God loves a tryer! LOL)

Here's the mail:

Mr Polacsek,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately this model is not standerd listed. We need a front and rear shock to develop this model. If you can deliver this we give you a special discount of 40% on the customer price. But we need an order for at least 5 sets of this model.

Please let me know if you are interested.

With kind regards,

AST
Marleen

for those who are not familiar with AST, here's their homepage:

AST Clicky

and to list some of the cars which use their suspesnion kit:

Litchfield Nissan GTR
Litchfield Honda Civic Type R
Litchfield Type 20
Litchefield Type 25
Oettinger Audi S3
Nnomo Mugen Honda S2000

and lots of of other cars, like Porsches; EVOs; etc...

and that's only on the street, they have a huge reputation in onroad races (endurance; touring c ar champs.; and in rallying aswell.

I think I'll settle with the Sportline I option, these feature:

Sport-Line are mono-tube high-pressure, coil-over shock absorbers. Damping force on rebound and compression is adjustable in 12 positions. These shock absorbers are adjustable to several heights. Sport-Line shocks can be rebuilt and maintained. They guarantee a comfortable ride and are equipped with adjustable aluminium anodised spring seat.

Sportline I: Mc Pherson type with 22 mm shaft.

So, please write down your names if you're interested and if we can get at least 5 person I'll send them a pair of front struts and rear shock absorbers!

Feel free to ask any question and I'll email them! Wink

I don't know the exact prices yet, but I'll check the already existing Sportline I coilover prices and this will show a rough figure!

I would like some info regarding the differences between the 306 and Xsara struts.

I'm mainly about to have a set made for the Xsara VTS / 306 GTI-6 ; Rallye but if the struts are the same these can cover the whole 306/Xsara range!

nope... the 40% only applies to the person who organizes the whole thing (in this case I will), and send them 4 struts on his own

so at the end it'll cost the same amount for me...

I'm aware that AST have a good reputation. Personally I'm hesitant to commit to buying an unproven product but hope you manage to get sufficient interest. It's certainly something I would consider if available off the shelf.

they do front coilover setup for the Saxo for around 480GBP

so our front struts would be around that figure

the thing is, that we would have to source some rear dampers tho.

Far from unproven. Curtis from AST UK will be on here in a bit to say hello - he seems to think that they already do the kits for our cars, but is going to speak to Marleen about it. As he is only 2 miles away I can give him some spare shocks and springs if they need them.

We'll if they aren't yet available for a particular application they are as yet unproven for that application. If they already available then great. It's not a dig, just a fact. I'd like to know more as I've heard only positive things so far regarding AST.

Sorry I see what you mean now. Considering their current applications they'll have to do a monumental f*ck up to suddenly get the Xsara and 306 wrong LOL

They do a competition set for the Xsara, but no street application (Sportline I. or II.).

And it would be ace to lend them some shocks and springs! Cool

and just a question... what's up with the rear? Huh?

Hello all, Curtis from AST suspension UK here, I have spoken to Adam a few times about suspension for the 306, we have done various 306s in the past, but all have been competition systems , totally different from fast road, I will have some units and get to work on a kit this week, I have all the facilitys to manufacture, service and revalve here AST, so its not just a case of sticking the kit on a and off you go, they will be tested by myself, please let me know if you have any questions
regards

Curtis didn't mention above that the shocks can be tailored to your needs rather than coming off the shelf. You can speak to him about different valving and spring rates if you prefer to do more track work rather than road etc etc.

He picked up a set of dampers, springs and top mounts from me earlier. They are looking to make adjustable top mounts as well as the rest of the kit.

Hi all,
I offer a full service of specific set-up needs, so I can answer any questions you may have, for competition cars, I have different set-ups dependant on all sorts of variants, tyres , roll stiffness, driver preferation, track conditions, different circuits, race lengths, amongst other things, so please let me know what you think, as Adam said , you can specify your own spring rate if you have something that you prefer.
regards
Curtis
