I'm still trying to learn about these engines and haven't done much work with modern engines so not sure about a few things.

Am i right in thinking that the ECU corrects the injector and spark timing using the crank and cam possition sensors? By this i mean if the head has been removed and the crank has been turned as long as the crank is pinned with the pistons at mid stroke when the head is replaced will the ECU correct the timing?

This document explains the basic operating features of the ECU.

Injector timing is irrelevant - that's not altered - it's all about ignition timing.

yes, pin the crank at mid bore, and fling the head on, pin the head up and fire a belt on, thats it mintit.
