ok iv'e started this thread to show the results from my previous thread.

the springs are belived to be mk1 xsara vts with the red and grey stripe.

gti6 springs

coils per spring 6
coil thickness 13mm
free height 400 mm
sill height 185 mm
centre of wheel to arch 370mm

vts springs

coils per spring 6
coil thickness 13mm
free height 330mm
sill height 160mm
centre of wheel to arch 345mm

ok im well happy with the result its dropped the car to sit exactly how i wanted and the ride is very close to the standard six imo (however do to me not having tracked the car up and new pads and discs i've not pushed it, so mo may change).
spring height differences

car before vts springs fitted

car after fitting well chuffed

any comments very welcome.

Looks a good improvement.

I also have a set of VTS springs to go on. from a 1999 VTS, although mine have white and green markers, also 13.2mm.

Looking at yours it may be that it will not drop mine as much as I hope

just been out for a long drive on these no complains the car seems a lot more composed than it did on the old springs, this is probably due to the now nose down stance though.

ok went out again today and pushing hard im still not really noticing any difference in the ride if anything the handling has improved, as said before this could be due to the stance.

Laugh my ass off

But you didn't have a bunch of c*nts sell you the wrong parts repeatedly for a couple of weeks. The only parts they got right first time were the track rod ends and droplinks.

I wasted two or three weekends waiting for them to get hold of the right parts for me. Dry

Now the car is fixed, the bike is f*cked again. LOL

Have to laugh, else I'd cry.

I know, I can hardly believe it. Given recent luck I'm due about 20 years of trouble free motoring now. LOL

There's an enormous amount of fork oil p*ssing out of the right fork leg. Had to limp it home the other night and it's sitting around until I have the time/inclination to strip it down again. Need to see what's happening as they were rebuilt a couple of months ago at reasonable expense... Sad

Any update on this - are you still happy with it?

I'm thinking about doing this to my Rallye as I've put brand new OE springs and dampers on my car and it now sits a bit higher. The old springs and dampers looked the same as the new OE stuff just rustier, but the st*nce looked much like the "after" pic above. Either it had VTS springs or the old ones had sagged a bit after 100K miles.

Anyone got more info on part nos and sources for VTS springs?

I thought it was currently the uber-fashionable thing to bump years-old threads? Everyone seems to be doing it so I thought I'd follow the crowd.

Anyway, has anyone got any additional info on Xsara VTS springs on a 6 or Rallye? Maybe someone with a citroen service box login?

Can someone tell me the OE part number of the Xsara VTS springs which lower a GTI6 about 25 mm, please? Is there a difference between Ph1 and Ph2?

Did anybody fit Rallye springs (5002 P7) to a GTI6? Is it a wise idea to do this if you only need a very slight lowering of 10-20 mm?

I think the Xsara VTS spring part number is 5002 RT and there's no difference between phases.

As for Rallye springs, I very much doubt you'll see any difference in ride height at all. As far as I know, and I may be wrong, they were just a different spring rate to allow for the rallyes very slight weight difference over the 6.

I've replaced original springs off a gti6 and a rallye, and both had green and white paint marks iirc

Thanks guys, I bought some OE replacement springs by KYB (part number RA1773). They replace 5002RT and several others. I know, this won't be exactly the original Xsara VTS spring but I need some cheap OE looking springs with only a small amount of lowering so they can go with my Bilstein B8s. I hope this will work out. My current H&R -40mm springs are too low and the car attracts the attention of the police.

How did you get on with the KYB springs in the end?
