Following on from my "its broke" moment - I think it is broke

Whats happening is when turning the wheel at slow speeds, there is an initial stiffness before it turns normally, seems to happen turning both ways.

Not really sure what to look at; theres plenty of fluid there (though it seemed very thin and didnt smell of anything - i had to put new stuff in the last car and it smelled lovely) and its not making any unusual sounds (my last car had a leak in the hydraulic pipe and it sounds awful when empty lol)

I do suspect a problem with my top mount - the knocking has gradually got louder and im wondering if this steering issue could be a symptom of that Unsure

I can see people seem to sell the pumps for about 20 quid - if it is this, is it an easy job to swap out? having a quick look it seemed like you dont have to have the manifold off for it Unsure

Any ideas Unsure

hmmm.. my pump went on me the last time this happened! and totally stopped working.

now its happened again.. so i'm open to options too.. think it might be a worn ram causing it too?

does it WHIRR really bad on slow speed full lock too?

My steering felt a bit like that when my front springs broke because they weren't seated properly on the top mount...

Sorry for the thread revival but have been trawling steering issues with the search button and this best fits my problem.

Justinaccurate did you solve the problem if so what was it?

My car is booked in on Friday to see if they can find the fault.

Bet its the top mount bearings gone. Makes the steering bad and gives you knocking noises.

I haven't noticed it again since then to be honest, kinda forgot about this Shut up

Having said that I did have my drivers side top mount and bearing replaced shortly after due to odd noises Laugh
