Hey, it's off the axle stands now, it actually moved under its own power yesterday.

100 yards.
Then sprung a coolant leak...

I'm now starting team "raised 50mm due to ridiculously long springs"

There's about 150 kilos of knackered parts in the back, hence the squat! LOL

Why are these wheels actually wanted just because they are lighter?

Carl

because they are not really made of steal, they are alloy, hence why they are lighter. A scrappy near here was telling me about them as he has a set!
He has already sold them though!

I didnt believe him till he got a magnet out to prove it!

Just seems mad, why Citroen make them of alloy and make them look like stealys and then put wheel trims on!

Because they use them to transport the cars on and for delivery, the lighter they are the less they cost them in transport.
Be aware though, that some of the early sets had problems with cracking around the wheel bolt holes.

EDIT!

Today I've bought one of these mighty wheels! (other 3 will arrive on Monday hopefully!)

Oh My God!!!!!! You just can't believe these until you pick one up!!!!! Nearly half the weight of the original steel wheel!!!!

On a scale it weighed in at about 4.5kg, and the original steelie at around 8.7kg (these are not exact numbers but will do for me LOL)

so around 4kg lighter / corner = 16kg saved!!!!!!!

and to quote Puglover:

"i read somewhere that every 1kg extra on a wheel is about the same as adding about 7-10kg to the cars overall weight"

I'm chuffed! Cool

Only use the proper c5 wheel bolts with the spinning washers, torqued up to the c5 settings.

that only applies to the flat-surfaced wheels! these are the revised C5 steel wheels, with tapered bolt holes! Wink

that's why I was after the "PS815011" wheels! The others need a flat washer, but those steelies prone to crack.

Does anyone know how heavy the 1.9 205 GTi wheels are? They almost look like steels but are alloy.

Probably a dumb question Razz

As far as I know the C5 only came out with two different types of steel-looking alloys.

The first type needed the flat washer, and the revised is the tapered. The newere C5 switched to 16' as far as I know!

there were two types AFAIK:

Italian made Speedline - 8 kg
French made SMR - 9.1 kg
